I have never been able to explain bodysurfing – wrestling with the ocean.  One picture is of a guy clawing at the sand to keep the power of the wave that just crashed above from vacuuming you backwards.  The rhythm and nakedness to fluid power and the caress of salt water.

A time-lapse masterpiece.

hoax? Art? commerce? hybrid?

Another great vid from Mirko Faienza reminds me of my 24 hour stay on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) during flight qauls off the southern California coast. On my birthday, I had the privilege of sitting between the catapults for a dozen or so launches. Later in the day, I was ‘catted’ myself landing back at North Island, Coronado. The flowing, human process of our nation’s projection of power is an amazing thing to witness first hand, up close. The carrier is the gunpowder, the aircraft the lead.

In 16 days, Mirko Faienza’s video received 232 glowing comments and 1152 (makes me #1153) “likes” which is like “No. 1 with a bullet” on Vimeo.  Sit back, click on full screen on your best hi def monitor and enjoy.  BTW – it’s an Italian garden.

What am I looking at and how did they do it?

I quote the post: “This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.”

Wow – this is video, musical, social skill and daring all wrapped up into one.  For me, it’s comforting to know there are such talented, ingenious minds eager to entertain me and, maybe, teach me, help me, relax me, stimulate me, inspire me – make me think!  What a concept.  Art.

[editor's note: click the arrow in the middle. I don't have the time nor the patience to figure out how to get the lock graphic and privacy notice to disappear.  Consider it art.]

Tip of the spear.
